The Macallan is transporting it's Scottish Distillery globally through innovative VR technology.
In a series of four short 360 VR video's Airborne Lens worked alongside Blend Media with a 20+ strong crew utilising latest VR technology to bring the new home of the distillery, situated in the beautiful Scottish Highlands to life in stunning 5K 360 video. The team also included Brownian Motion, Visualise and Aerial Frontiers.
Using the Alta 8 Freefly drone carrying two Lumix GH5's both fitted with Entaniya 250 lenses, this provided the team with 12bit, high dynamic range footage, and using twin-lens resulting in lower parallax errors - all common obstacles encountered when producing commercial 360 videos.
For the ground-level work, the team used the Mantis Motion Impossible dolly, with the same Lumix GH5 and Entaniya 250 lens set up, enabling smooth, stable 360 video from a standing ground level perspective.
The Macallan has a history of pioneering in the latest technology. After unveiling their £140 million new distillery and visitor centre in June 2018, they brought the Scottish Distillery experience to-life internationally through a series of 360 VR videos and experiences. This allows consumers to view their stunning Speyside Distillery from the comfort of their own home - watching through their Laptops, Mobile Devices, and VR Headsets.
